Hey everyone! I’m Amelia Cusanno, the Marketing and Outreach Specialist for the Made in Millersville journal.
Outside of MIM, I am the former president/current treasurer for the Creative Writer’s Guild, and a recent editor and secretary for The George Street Press. I spend most of my time writing horror, fantasy, and poetry, and am always happy to assist developing writers. I’ve been an officer for Creative Writer’s Guild since my freshman year, so it has a very special place in my heart, and I love helping both hobbyist and professional writers hone their craft and explore new genres or styles. George Street Press is the campus literary and arts magazine, so if you have any writing or art (creative nonfiction, fiction, prose, poetry, photography, paintings, etc), I highly recommend submitting to them as well! Outside of school and writing, I draw, sew, and research 1800s fashion.
After I graduate, I hope to continue working in the editing field, but I’m also extremely interested in pursuing a masters degree in library sciences and publishing more of my own work. My poem “Reef Sharks” was published in 2023 by The Academy of American Poets to poets.org, and one of my short stories, “Graverobber,” will be published through George Street Press this spring!
Writing can be a tedious, frustrating process. Regardless of whether it’s creative or research-based, I've learned and changed a lot as a writer over the years thanks to clubs, classes, and workshops. I’d love to help you as much as possible too, so over the course of the semester, I will be posting advice on tackling writer’s block, developing a writing process and routine, and more based on my personal experience. I invite you to follow our Instagram (mim_journal), Facebook (Made in Millersville Journal), and keep an eye on our blog for updates on when these posts are released!
